You also might want to check out the chapter in INVITATION TO THE CLASSICS by Louise Cowan. There is a short paragraph on translations. Last year I used an ultra modern free verse one (don't throw too many stones!) by Ellis with my 8th grade son. I then made up comprehension questions using the commentary in Dorothy Sayers version.
