Spiritual Junk Food by Michels/McKeever -- A
thought-provoking book on the education provided to young
people in churches and Christian schools everywhere...
Points out that much of the curriculum is based in secular
humanist philosophy although much of it goes unnoticed by
leaders, parents, et al... Calls on parents and educators
to check out every text/teaching method used in the
classroom to make sure that its message is truly
biblical... Denounces the concept of students "sharing
their feelings openly because there are no wrong answers
here" and other touchy-feely teaching methods... Questions
the traditional youth ministry model as well, calling
readers back to a more biblical ministry approach where
older men taught the younger men and older women taught the
younger women (instead of today's age-segregated model).
