Dear Jason: We haven't seen that particular book, but we'd sure be interested in what you have to say after you've had a chance to use it. I don't recall if we've discussed classical vs. ecclesiastical pronunciation on the Digest, but my memory is often fuzzy. The best way for you to know for sure would be to contact Julie Kong at backissues@ccsnet.org and ask her to send you the index to past Digests. We're currently indexed up through the end of last year, so you might also want to ask her directly if she recalls any discussion of this topic anytime in the past five months. You might also want to check out subscribing to the Latin List, co-maintained by Lori Rogers and Michael Myers. Here's the subscription information: "Visit the CCSLatinTeachers List Center at www.onelist.com to view the archives of past discussions. You must register as a member by typing in your email address and choosing a password. Your "user" page will pop up and there will be listed the email groups that you belong to at onelist.com. Click on "List Center" and then "View Archives"." If these folks haven't discussed this subject in detail, you can always start a new thread, and they are absolutely WONDERFUL when it comes to rising to any challenge. HOpe this helps. God bless, Jen > I bought it, also, based on your recommendation. I found it very interesting and informative. I do have a question or two, though. I bought "Learn Latin," by Peter Jones, based on Kopff's recommendation. He endorses the classical pronunciations of Latin. Has anyone used this book? Any endorsements/cautions? Which past digests, if any, cover classical vs. ecclesiastical pronunciations? > > Jason |
