> > Hello... just wondering if anyone can give us any comments/ favorable or against for using the Covenant Home Curriculum...really need some input on this homeschooling company; major decision coming! Thank you so much.
> We have used CHC for 2, 3 and 4 grades. We have been pleased with it and plan to order grade 5 soon. There are a few reasons that we decided on CHC. For one, dh and I were not classically educated and we did not have the knowledge when we began homeschooling to properly form our own classical curriculum. I have a chronic illness and there have been times when it has been a tremendous blessing to our family to have the planner and the work laid out for us. This has been especially so in the early years as new homeschoolers. We have not used the grade auditing service as of yet. I have also found the staff to be very helpful. If you have any specific questions that I might be able to help you with, please feel free to ask! Becki
We have used CHC for the past two years in grades 3,4 and 8,9. While many Classical Christian purists would argue that CHC does not quite fit the bill as a Classical Christian Curriculum, it is very comprehensive, challenging, and demanding. We are using the auditing service for high school only, to keep a transcript and actually generate a diploma. The planning books have been invaluable to us in helping layout each day's lessons. It has saved us a lot of time. On the other hand, they are very test oriented, and grading is very time consuming, especially if you are using the auditing service. We have been pleased overall. Also, they sell replacement packages for younger student who will repeat a grade you might have already done with an older student - or you can go out and buy the consumables on your own. While not purely classical,( you can add Latin on your own, and they even sell the materials), I feel my kids are getting a very solid education and with a reformed biblical world view that I agree with.
