    Hi, Alison!

I don't know much (anything, actually!) about Spalding, but we have been using SSRW with our five year old son, Nolan, for ~6-8 months. It is geared towards classroom use, where kids take turns doing a very similar chant over and over (one does it for 'a', one for 'b', etc.), so it can get very monotonous for a single child to do it. However, with a little ingenuity in adaptation, it can be readily customized for the homeschooled child. We do find that it is fun, but that it is also very effective -- a great combo in our minds. Nolan is progressing very rapidly, and the songs/games help much. Even our three year old observer knows the songs by heart.
