We decided to use Shurley Grammar last year after a number of unsuccessful years with LLATL. I may be in the minority here, but we love it! The kids have grasped it quickly. I use the 3rd level for both my 3rd and 5th graders. We'll use it for 1.5 to 2 years and skip to level 5 (or, I heard that they'll be coming out with a complete program - buy it once, and you won't need to keep buying the different levels). I don't particularly care for their writing yet, but we haven't done much. Something else that I've seen since starting SG is the Emma Serl books: Primary Language Lessons and Intermediate Language Lessons. Barnes and Noble has a very complete review of both of these, including sample lessons. So many good programs..........
been learning about classical education. I am very interested, but still have much to learn about applying it in our home.
