"Grammar Works" teaches a series of questions which the student uses to analyize sentences for grammatical format. Jay Patterson talks about how knowing how to analyize sentences for grammar builds student's reading comprehension capacity. GW does not have the songs, but it does (from what I have heard about Shurley) have all the other elements of Shurley. It does not go as far as Shurley as far as some of the grammatical concepts taught, but these will be covered in "Advanced Grammar Works". If you are interested further, I have a few posts in the archives of the WRTR-Teachers email list. Go to www.onelist.com/subscribe/WRTR-Teachers Susan Davis |
