Also, one can use diagramming in determining whether or not a sentence used in teaching logic is correct, whether in balance or subject/predicate agreement. Susan Wise Bauer points this out in her book, The Well-Trained Mind, and does an especially good job in showing the importance of teaching diagramming before teaching logic. It is indeed a useful tool.
