Save your money and buy IEW. Don't buy the Writing Strands
unless you have some extra change about. Most of the
material in Writing Strands is very similar to what most
"Newspapers in Education" offer for free (ask your local
paper about their Newspapers in Education program, they
vary). I have Writing Strands, and really, the big "thing"
is the topics. If your children write letters to their
friends and family, keep a journal, or do copy book
activities, AND you also cover basic literature types
(biography, autobiography, fiction, types of poetry...)you
will get at least the same bang for the buck.

The best thing you could do is go for the IEW materials.
Sorry if that offends anyone, but I just don't see where
Writing Strands is particularly classical or christian
relative to other writing activities available.
