I'm still 'evolving' in my homeschool methodology. My children are in the grammar stage. I've been studying the Classical approach for about six months. I very much agree with the philosophy, especially for the grammar stage. However, I also have the Weaver Volume I that I'd still like to use for Bible, history and science. Sooooo, I'd like to do the three 'r's (and Latin) in the a.m. and the Weaver in the afternoons. Has anybody attempted this? Or is there too many contradictory elements between the two methods to co-exist? Also, I would like to just get my children's (ages, 8,7,5) interest in Latin going, yet not actually teach it until grammar is taught adequately. I had thought about Power-Glides' Series for young children in Latin. Any comments, pro or con? I'm so glad I finally found this forum! Where have you all been all my life???? (heehee). Thank-you for your input. Blessings, RobinS. |
